What do you guys think of this performance? Don't compare it to a Sugaree with Jerry. Just evaluate it for what it is. I love Moonalice & Jack Casady, so I'm probably a tad biased. However, I find this to be quite good. It's hard to not imagine Jerry's vocals, in place of this unique vocal arrangement, but give it a shot. Casady is too low in the mix, but with a good sound system and a boost to the sub, his unique contributions can be heard better, and are fun to listen to.

bob sings a wonderful mission in the rain!

i just watched this clip again, and i must admit, it was much more enjoyable last night after 8 blue moons and a bowl of gdp. i'm still enjoying it a good amount now though, mostly for barry sless and casady.

same here utopian. they are very good live. best bar band in the country! i love how they put all their shows online in excellent audio and video quality:

Jackie Greene rocks a pretty damn fine Sugaree.

I particularly like the old guy who shows up to play bass on this clip. I think maybe he's played this tune before...

jackie does indeed do an excellent sugaree. seen him do it live numerous times. even better, is when he and larry campbell trade off on solos. here's an excellent example of such a thing, and one of the best phil shows i've been to:

There is no better interpreter of Hunter/Garcia currently performing than Jackie Greene. I've said more than once here that I really regret Phil's decision to put the Campbell and Greene incarnation of the Friends, a really exciting lineup, on the shelf to join Bob in Furthur.

This P&F acoustic show with Greene, Campbell and Teresa Williams is a great favourite of mine.

Bob doesn't sing it, he talks it. He doesn't let the words flow nowadays.
